What is a Lab Diamond? Why Man-Made Diamond?

WHY DID WE PREFER LAB-GENERATED DIAMONDS?

These diamonds, called Man Made Diamonds or Lab Grown Diamonds in the world, are REAL diamonds produced by human hands under high technology. Chemically, physically and optically, they are Diamonds.

All man-made lab-grown diamonds have higher purity, greater brilliance, cleaner origins and cost much less than mined diamonds, which is why we chose to use these innovative stones in all our rings.

“Man-made diamonds” are diamonds.”

Federal Trade Commission (USA)

August 2018

"Laboratory-created diamonds are not fake. These diamonds are not cubic zirconia. On the contrary, they have the same physical and chemical properties as a diamond extracted from a mine."
Stephen Morisseau
Gemological Institute of America (GIA) Representative

"Mined diamonds are a gift of nature; man-made diamonds are a gift of wisdom."
Qiang Lin
Chairman of Shanghai Diamond Exchange

THE BEST VALUE FOR YOUR MONEY

Thanks to advances in technology, lab-grown diamonds are also of superior quality and are more affordable than mined diamonds of comparable size and quality.

Another advantage is that lab-grown diamonds sell for up to 75% less than mined diamonds, thanks to lower costs from the mining process, a shorter supply chain and a more competitive market.

This does not mean that lab-grown diamonds are “cheap.” In fact, the production costs between mined and lab-grown diamonds are comparable. The cost of cutting, polishing, and certification processes are similar whether mined or lab-grown. However, the mined diamond industry is a monopoly that restricts the supply of diamonds, which leads to artificial inflation. However, the lab-grown diamond industry has rational competition, which keeps prices low, giving consumers the chance to have the perfect ring they will have for the rest of their lives without having to pay more.

HIGH QUALITY AND VERY BEAUTIFUL

Lab-grown or ‘man-made’ diamonds have exactly the same physical, chemical and optical properties as mined diamonds. The main difference between a lab-grown diamond and a natural diamond is its origin. A lab-grown diamond replicates the nature of a diamond in the mine using state-of-the-art cutting technologies, crystallizing the carbon until it turns into a diamond. When placed side by side, lab-grown diamonds are indistinguishable from their natural counterparts. So much so that even with a jeweler’s 10x lens, it is nearly impossible to distinguish lab-grown diamonds from natural diamonds. The only way to distinguish these two types of diamonds from each other is to use special equipment to measure the level of impurities found in natural diamonds but not in lab-grown diamonds.

The purest form of diamonds are Type IIA and Type II, which are the rarest and cleanest types of diamonds found in nature. This is because they are 100% carbon and contain no impurities such as nitrogen, giving them greater clarity and strength than 98% of mined diamonds. We are proud that all BirKarat Diamonds are Type IIA and Type II.

IF YOU ARE GOING TO MAKE AN OFFER WITH SOLITAIRE, PLEASE AVOID IMITATION DIAMOND

If you are going to make an offer, the best stone option for a solitaire ring is a diamond.

When you propose with a solitaire stone, the lucky person in front of you will assume that the ring you give is diamond. A solitaire stone made of any other material may cause misunderstandings from the very first day.

If you want to have a piece of jewelry that is scratch-proof and does not lose its value and shine, other than a solitaire stone, you can look at Carborite stones, which are the best alternative.
