IGI scans each diamond using the latest technologies to determine its origin, whether naturally mined, laboratory-grown or simulated. Experienced graduate gemologists perform further evaluation under controlled conditions, detailing the relevant gemological characteristics according to the most stringent international systems. Any permanent treatments will be noted in the comments section. IGI does not publish full grading reports for diamonds with non-permanent treatments.
Gemstones should only change hands with a grading report confirming quality. Regardless of location or marketplace, an authentic Hearts and Arrows Lab Plus IGI Lab Report is the lingua franca of trust and confidence in the gemological world.
Rating Results
The IGI Hearts & Arrows Report includes the diamond's description, whether it is natural or lab-grown, its shape, cut style, measurements and 4C assessments: Carat Weight, Colour, Clarity and Cut.
Hearts & Arrows reports may also include a graphical representation of the diamond's proportions, a diagram of its clarity characteristics, and a comment on the laser inscription if applicable.
All lab-grown diamonds reported by IGI will have the prefix 'LG' lasered in front of the report number and will be noted in the comments section.
To achieve the "Hearts and Arrows" standard officially recognized by IGI, significantly more raw material will be consumed than ordinary Ideal cut diamonds, so the production cost is higher. Lab-grown diamonds with the "Hearts and Arrows" mark in the IGI report are extremely rare in the market.
