Man-Made Laboratory Diamond Standards

There are 9 categories of man-made diamonds.

Unfortunately, the stones sold in our country and mostly on internationally known websites (for economic purposes) are those that have undergone POST GROWTH TREATMENT.

Post-growth treatment is used when man-made diamonds have undesirable characteristics (such as low color grade, heavy inclusions, or internal lines).

Diamonds that have undergone these processes are referred to as ‘treated’ or ‘enhanced.’ The aim of post-growth treatments such as HPHT (High Pressure High Temperature) is to improve the quality of the diamond by removing as many undesirable characteristics as possible.

However, this can often cause the diamond to appear hazy.

The more post-growth processing a lab diamond needs, the hazier, or “milky” in our market parlance, it becomes.

Not all lab diamonds need post-growth treatments – some are made perfectly (or nearly perfectly) so they don’t need any post-growth treatment.

2.0 ct E Color VS1

The lowest level IGI classic certified diamond 2.0 ct E VS1 r is given as 1,000 USD for comparison purposes.

There are very different qualities in MAN-MADE DIAMONDS that have the same color, clarity, carat and cut values and whose upper certificates appear similar.

The choice and/or preference between these qualities is entirely the choice of our customers. After all, they are all REAL DIAMONDS and what is important is that the financial equivalent of the quality you receive is FAIR.

IGI (STANDARD POST GROWTH TREATMENT)

Post-Growth Treatment is used when lab-grown diamonds grown with older machines have undesirable characteristics (such as low color grade, heavy inclusions or internal lines).

Diamonds that have undergone these processes are called 'treated' or 'enhanced'.

The aim of post-growth treatments such as HPHT (High Pressure High Temperature) is to improve the quality of the diamond by removing as many undesirable characteristics as possible, but this can often cause the diamond to appear hazy (we're not talking about HPHT produced ones to begin with... beware).

The more post-growth processing a lab diamond needs, the hazier it becomes.

Not all lab diamonds need post-growth treatments – some are made perfectly (or nearly perfectly) so they don’t need any post-growth treatment.

IGI LAB PLUS

There is no POST GROWTH, it comes out of a single integrated system. It is a common feature of LAB PLUS production. Only 6 of 604 production facilities use this latest technology. This number may increase gradually each year. If you pay attention, you will not see the POST GROWTH TREATMENT word group in the COMMENTS section of these productions and there is a production stamp on the certificates .

IGI HEARTS AND ARROWS LAB PLUS

In addition to not having POST GROWTH, it has the HEARTS AND ARROWS mark, which indicates that it has the highest brilliance and cut value. When it has both Hearts and Arrows and a Lab Plus, it is the most perfect diamond that can be IGI certified. Only 2% of the production results in Hearts and Arrows.

HRD

HRD classic certificate, cut values (it is necessary to pay attention to the percentages). HRD can sometimes shift a tone up/down but it is not the end of the world in DEF colors.

GIA

GIA writes growth remnant on all certificates, and when it sees a growth trace, it states FEATHER. We do not see this in LAB PLUS GIA certificates. GIA certificates are the most important certificates (in our opinion) especially for color sensitivity. Again, it is necessary to look at the cut-off values in these certificates and pay attention.

HRD LAB PLUS

Lab Plus is LAB PLUS stones that come out of production (no post growth) and are reported in HRD laboratories. These stones do not have the color tint tones we mentioned before. In other words, NO BGM (brown green milky is not visible). There are no coffee green tones or milky cloudy appearance.

HRD LAB PLUS HEARTS AND ARROWS

These are the stones with the highest level of brightness you can have with the HRD certificate. They have both the Hearts and Arrows feature and come from LAB PLUS production facilities.

GIA LAB PLUS

Lab Plus products that are out of production (no post growth) and reported in GIA laboratories

GIA +AGS + LAB PLUS

Lab Plus is the addition of a second AGS report to reinforce the superiority of those that come out of production (no post growth) and are reported in GIA laboratories and are deemed superior. The AGS report gives this stone the highest cut grade, such as Hearts and Arrows. These certificates are usually found on round stones of 2 carats and above. Think of a waiting period of at least 30 days, these are very rare diamonds.

When you enter the report number you will see 2 reports
